Homework Challenges

Homework Challenges - Term 1

Our homework focuses around the learning pillars which is part of our school charter. It also aligns to the NZ Curriculum’s vision as life-long learners, connected and engaged, self-motivated and resourceful, creative and critical thinkers. The homework structure is designed to encourage children to manage their time and work on projects that may take longer than a week. It also allows children to follow their passions and be rewarded for the activities and contributions they make in our community. It is important that homework tasks promote ownership by offering choice and being personally relevant. It also has to have a sense of purpose such as practice, checking for understanding, or applying knowledge or skills. There is flexibility in how we can help your child with their homework and additional resources can be provided. The priority for children is to read regularly and practise their spelling and basic facts goals.

At the end of the term, it is your responsibility to hand in your homework and have evidence in your book of all the tasks that have been completed which will then go towards your overall score. It is up to you how you record your evidence. There is regular sharing in class throughout the term and this is a good time to check in with the tasks you are currently working on.
