Swimming sports

The butterflies in my tummy were flying around chaotically. Emma was lining up. "on your marks, get set, go!" Every one was cheering "go Emma! Go Emma!" After a long wait it was my go. The butterflies got even worse, now I lined  up. "On your marks, get set, go!" I dived into the cooled water. One length past and I got out of the pool. "Well done" Monty said. We went into the changing room and dried off and went home. It was a great day I said to myself.

Tools in our Toolbox

In class the students have been exploring the different situations and activities that they would be using tools from their toolbox:
  • Working together/Group work
  • Playing games/PE
  • Using working spaces (e.g. breakout spaces or other classes)
  • SRL
  • With our buddies
  • At assembly
  • Doing Writing
  • Doing Mathematics
  • At Morning tea & Lunch
  • Doing Inquiry
  • Using the library
  • In Grandview
  • On school camp
  • Competing e.g. Triathlon, swimming sports etc
The students then had to break down these situations and activities so that they identified the specific skills needed in their toolboxes in order to be successful...

Summer traditions

I measure my summer by the tail of the dog waging .A good summer is a water summer, a long summer. Hot enough to go into the wavy lake 24/7. Hot enough so even mum will go in the lake.

It has been a family tradition since I can remember. Mum and dad still have a friend who owns a beach house. It has everything from ping pong tables to darts and from darts to ping pong tables. Playing endless rounds of backgammon or last card is still fun when we are in the beach house, near the flowing sea.

Sometimes we take our chances of hitting the big waves on the surf board with the family while mum sits on the beach. We forage for crabs and find the big ones that my brother then takes back. We'd look in big rocks or just play in the cold but not too cold water with the blue boat. Either way it is always fun!!

Hawea Flat Triathlon

What a full on day! The triathlon went off today without a hitch. For the year 5&6's it meant a run, bike and then swim to cap off a fun day in the sun. Well done to all the students who finished and to those who placed.
